Manchester Half Marathon Marshalling - Sun 14th Oct 2018

Hi everyone. Time for me to ask for your help again. The club keeps your membership fees low by marshalling at the Manchester Marathon and Half which boosts funds. It's also a really good thing to do - races can't happen without volunteers - so it gives you a chance to give back to the running community and support your fellow Striders who are running.

The Manchester Half is on the 14th October this year. I need at least 20 people to help marshal our zone please. They don't need to be Striders - bring a friend or family member!

Greater Manchester Marathon marshalling - Sunday 8th April

As in previous years the organisers have asked us to help marshal the course. They give us a decent donation for every person we supply which helps us to keep our subs down.

It can be a long day but we have lots of club members running in the race and it is a great way to support them. If you would like more information please see Sally Gubbins at the club.

To sign up please visit the following page, select Course Marshal and put the code AGMMHVS in the box

Come along to #runandtalk - Mon 29 January 2018 at 18:15

England Athletics are working with Mind to promote mental well being by encouraging us to run together and talk #runandtalk

In addition to the usual club runs on Monday 29th January we will have a number of short, easy runs to suit all abilities and will encourage chatting during and after the run.

It is free and open to all from the age of 12 upwards (those under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult). Come along for a sociable #runandtalk with our friendly, enthusiastic and qualified leaders. We will meet at 18:15 to set off about 18:30.

Greater Manchester Marathon Marshalling - Sun 2nd April

Once again the club are providing marshals for a zone in the marathon. The organisers give a donation to the club for every person we supply and that helps us to keep our subscriptions down.

This year our zone is likely to be on the two way section of the course from the end of Brooklands Road to Timperley. This means that you will get to see the runners from the club twice (~10 and ~15 miles) which will give them a much needed boost. It also means that you will not need to be there as early as for some of the zones and you should be finished ealier than we have in the past.
